Leadership: Alan Lowenthal is a former local city councilman and state legislator (CA-27) in southern California, where he introduced groundbreaking legislation to clean up our air, and is widely recognized as an effective, bi-partisan problem solver. In Sacramento, Lowenthal took the lead in efforts to improve air quality, increase coastal access and restore inland waterways throughout the state. Due to Lowenthal’s leadership on clean air, water, and developing a new green jobs economy, he has been honored by many environmental advocacy groups such as the California League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, the Planning and Conservation League, and the California Coastal Commission.
