Leadership: Senator Stabenow has a strong history of supporting Great Lakes conservation and protecting agricultural interests in Michigan. She has fought against the invasion of Asian Carp into the Great Lakes, and authored S.471 (Stop Asian Carp Act of 2011) and S.2317 (Stop Invasive Species Act of 2011) to protect native fish in Lake Michigan. Senator Stabenow also authored S.3240 (Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2012 - also known as the “Farm Bill”) to bring relief to drought-affected farmers. Senator Stabenow understands the important connection between agriculture and water quality that affects the Great Lakes health.
