Leadership: During his career as a wind energy engineer and entrepreneur, Congressman McNerney’s work contributed to saving the equivalent of approximately 30 million barrels of oil, or 8.3 million tons of carbon dioxide. He has used this expertise to promote the development of green jobs and enhanced energy efficiency, focusing on moving the U.S. away from environmentally destructive means of energy production like coal and oil, in favor of sustainable power generation. He recently introduced and passed a bill to enable a solar energy project to move forward in Tracy, CA. This bill will also create 200 local jobs, demonstrating the Congressman’s view that renewable energy is good for our oceans, our environment and our economy.
