Quote "The House of Representatives has responded to President Obama’s call to action and passed groundbreaking legislation that will reduce the pollution that causes global warming, modernize our nation’s energy sector, revitalize our stagnant economy by creating millions of new green collar jobs, and increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil."

Leadership: Representative Joe Crowley was first elected to represent New York’s 7th Congressional District, his hometown community in the United States Congress in 1998. The district spans across Queens and the Bronx and is one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the country. Representative Crowley has cosponsored many bills that support clean water, renewable energy, and the protection of wilderness areas and Long Island Sound. A proven leader, Representative Crowley's hard work and effective advocacy have made him a standout member in Congress. In February 2010, National Journal magazine featured him on its cover and said he is “in line” to move further up the ranks within the leadership of the party.
