It is truly an honor to receive their endorsement,” Heinrich said. “As a diver for two decades now, it’s hard to think of a more beautiful and peaceful experience than being beneath the ocean's surface. I've dedicated my life to sustainably managing our natural landscapes and developing the country's clean energy resources. The stewardship of our nation's special places, and the economies they support, will be among my top priorities in the Senate.”|
Leadership Senator Martin Heinrich is a true conservationist and climate change advocate. He has exemplified his commitment to environmental protection as the Representative for New Mexico’s 1st district, and as the director of the New Mexico Wilderness Alliance and a Natural Resources Trustee. He worked to win federal protection for the Ojito Wilderness and to restore contaminated public lands using funds he seized from environmental polluters. Senator Heinrich has been a staunch supporter of clean energy, and has defended the EPA’s ability to hold polluters accountable under the Clean Air Act. His record has earned LCV ratings of 100% in 2009 and 2010, and 91% in 2011. He supports the National Ocean Policy and co-sponsored its precursor legislation, Oceans-21. We are confident that Senator Martin Heinrich is a valuable champion and that he will fight for ocean health.
