Don’t let the plastic pollution bill stall in Congress

Aug 24, 2017 in Newsletters

Dear Friend,

In case you missed it, earlier this month with help from ocean champions in Congress, the Save Our Seas Act (S.756) passed the Senate. With the companion bill starting to move in the House (H.R.2748), we need your help to garner more support to make sure this bill passes.

Before your Representative heads back to Washington, DC, now is the perfect time to meet with them in your district about supporting issues you care about, such as this important piece of legislation.  If passed, this bill:

  • allows NOAA to get the funding to cleanup and respond to the severe marine debris problem which includes plastic pollution;
  • gives NOAA the authority to identify the sources of marine debris and take action to prevent it;
  • encourages our government to work with other countries which produce large amounts of marine debris.

If you can’t meet with them while they’re in district, send them a letter using this link so it will be waiting for them whey they return.
