“Our bay is central to who we are in the East Bay and we must prioritize protecting it so it is healthy for the people and wildlife that depend on it.”
Leadership: Congressman Swalwell is a champion of the San Francisco Bay. He cosponsored the San Francisco Bay Restoration Act, legislation that would provide funding through the EPA for restoration, conservation projects, and studies in the bay. He also protects the bay through his advisory position on the Tri-Valley Conservancy, which works to safeguard agricultural and natural resources that the community values. Congressman Swalwell cosponsored H.R. 731, the California Clean Coast Act, which would permanently ban future offshore oil and gas leasing in areas of the Outer Continental Shelf off the coast of California.
Congressman Swalwell is a staunch supporter of renewable energy initiatives and has cosponsored numerous bills to incentivize production of renewables such as offshore wind. He has worked hard to encourage innovation in the energy sector and recognizes the urgent need to address climate change. Congressman Swalwell is also enthusiastic about reaching across the aisle to create bipartisan relationships and was a member of the United Solutions Caucus, a mixed group of Democrats and Republicans dedicated to reducing the bickering between parties within Congress.
