Leadership: Representing a district surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Atlantic on the other, Rep. Ros-Lehtinen understands the necessity of protecting the Oceans. Co-Founder of the National Marine Sanctuary Caucus, she has worked to “protect the environmental integrity of coral reefs and other coastal marine resources.” Rep. Ros-Lehtinen recently cosponsored H.R. 774 (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing Enforcement Act of 2015) and H.R. 1648 (Foreign Spill Protection Act of 2015).

A former educator, Rep Ros-Lehtinen understands the need to get future generations involved with the oceans.  She dove down to the Aquarius Undersea Laboratory in the Florida Keys where she participated in an online question and answer session with several school classrooms. Representative Ros-Lehtinen has pushed for accountability from BP and the Minerals Management Service for their role in the Gulf oil spill.
