Leadership: During his career as a wind energy engineer and entrepreneur, Congressman McNerney’s work contributed to saving the equivalent of approximately 30 million barrels of oil, or 8.3 million tons of carbon dioxide. He has used this expertise to promote the development of green jobs and enhanced energy efficiency, focusing on moving the U.S. away from environmentally destructive means of energy production like coal and oil, in favor of sustainable power generation. Congressman McNerney believes the conservation and enhancement of our natural resources can work hand in hand with policies that lead to economic growth.

Congressman McNerney is the author of three bills, passed by the House of Representatives, that will help train the next generation for green jobs, increase the efficiency of our electrical grid, and invest in infrastructure for electric vehicles. He fights for good energy policies that keep gas and electric bills as low as possible and create high quality jobs. Congressman McNerney also wrote legislation that will help improve air quality in the Central Valley by making the area eligible to apply for additional grants to help residents voluntarily replace or retrofit polluting engines. Congressman McNerney is committed to creating a healthy ocean future through clean energy, where California is positioned as a global leader in this growing field.
