“I have been a staunch advocate for moving America away from our dependence on dirty fossil fuels and foreign oil, and have supported efforts to cut our greenhouse gas emissions. We must become energy independent and make strategic investments in clean, renewable, and sustainable energy right here at home. I will continue to fight for the protection of our coastlines and open spaces, as well as a healthy environment for our community and our country.”

“Ventura County is one of the most beautiful districts in the nation to live, work and visit. Our community understands the need to protect our environment, use our limited resources wisely, and to plan responsibly for climate change.”

Leadership: As a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) and the Safe Climate Caucus, Representative Brownley advocates for a cleaner, more sustainable planet, supports comprehensive action on climate change, and has co-sponsored legislation to help coastal cities adapt and respond to the impacts of climate disruption. She has supported the extension of the production tax credit and the investment tax credit, which helps grow the wind and solar industry in California, and works to develop clean energy on public lands. She is a vocal proponent of the EPA’s ability to place limits on the amount of dangerous carbon pollution that power plants can spew into the air.

Representative Brownley is also a leader on protecting California’s population of Southern sea otters, a threatened species.
