Leadership: Congressman Lance has long-opposed oil and gas drilling in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has consistently been part of the New Jersey congressional delegation’s long-standing and bipartisan opposition to efforts to issue new drilling leases in their waters. Congressman Lance is one of the leading congressional opponents of the Penn East pipeline project, and a supporter of Delaware River Basin conservation programs. As a member of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, Congressman Lance is also a cosponsor of a congressional resolution calling for innovative solutions to protect the nation’s economic and national security from the growing challenges of climate change. He has cosponsored legislation to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund as well.
Through working as a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congressman Lance helped champion bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the successful EPA Brownfields Program that works to remediate and redevelop 419 contaminated sites in New Jersey. He also voted against an amendment that would have cut the EPA’s budget by approximately $1.9 billion.
