Leadership: The Great Lakes are an important part of Michigan’s heritage, and Senator Peters advocates for its preservation and restoration by supporting an initiative that combats the serious threats of invasive species, non-point source pollution, and contaminated sediments. Additionally, he supports common sense policies that invest in the development of clean energy technologies and create the green jobs of the future, while working to break our addiction to fossil fuels and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Peters also works tirelessly to fund the development of new green auto technology and green manufacturing jobs. He authored and passed legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would strengthen the Department of Energy’s ability to authorize public-private partnerships to promote research for new clean auto technologies.
