Leadership Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire has played an important part in ensuring that our oceans and coasts are well managed. Sen. Gregg has repeatedly fought back attempts to reduce the budget of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which has primary jurisdiction on most ocean management issues. Sen. Gregg has gotten increasingly involved in substantive policy issues as well, and introduced legislation, which would address key recommendations of the Pew Oceans Commission. Since 1997, Senator Gregg has secured close to $56 million to protect more than 3,335 acres of key wetland tracts around Great Bay, a significant estuarine ecosystem critical to the state. Senator Gregg sponsored S. 170 (Coastal and Estuarine Land Protection Act).
